Hello everyone! Before I begin talking about my drawing, I would first like to thank everyone who has viewed my blog so far- it really encourages me to make more posts. So thanks! :D
Now about the drawing. This tiger was drawn using only a few materials. I will list them below.
Pencils: I used regular graphite pencils that you can find at your local supermarket (If they stock them obviously)
Eraser: The eraser is from Faber-Castell, but I bought it from my local supermarket.
Paper: The paper I used to draw the Tiger is an A4 size from Kmart. Its nice and smooth, so its good for graphite drawings. Its actually an art diary.
Techniques:
Fur: The fur was not hard to draw, as it had to be smudged a lot so it didn't need a large amount of detail. To draw the stripes I used a darker graphite pencil. I drew quick short, close together strokes in the direction of the fur. For the white fluffy looking fur, I used the sharpest side of my eraser, and erased the grey backround I had previously drawn. The point of having a grey backround, is to show the white fur on the Tiger, otherwise you wouldn't be able to see it! Unless of course you drew the fur with a grey pencil, but that would sort of defeat the purpose.I did use a light graphite pencil to draw the shadows on the fur, and a few individual hairs, but other than that, the eraser did the job.
The leaves: The leaves were drawn using light and dark pencils. The lighter sides of the leaves were only lightly shaded, and then smudges. I erased certain spots to add highlights. For the darker leaves I pressed harder, and smudged slightly harder. The dark leaves add depth to the drawing.
The Whiskers: The whiskers were drawn the same way as the ''Fluffy Fur''. :)
That's basically it! Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you look forward to reading my next posts! :)
